On February 12, 2009, Continental Connection Flight 3407 crashed into a home in Clarence, NY killing all fifty people on board and one on the ground. There we two survivors. The Flight 3407 Memorial 5K Race began as a way to honor those lost and has continued to be a source of healing and hope for a community that came together then and stands together today.

This year, we will be celebrating the 6th Annual Flight 3407 Memorial 5K Run and Walk. For the 2nd year, Jill Wielinski Hohl, daughter of Douglas Wielinski and survivor of crash 3407, is the Race Director. She is honored to be able to be the race director and represent all of the 3407 families during the race. It means a lot for the race to continue on in memory of all those that we lost, but also to show how grateful they are for the love and support of the community.

The race is on Saturday, October 4th at 9:30am at the Clarence Towne Place Park at 1 Towne Place Park, Clarence, NY 14031. The proceeds for this year’s race will be funding the building and maintenance of a public memorial to be built on the grounds of the Clarence Library, a portion of the proceeds from the race will go to the Clarence Citizens of Veterans and the Eastern Hills Sunrise Rotary Club.

We hope to see everyone out at this great event! We appreciate all your support!
